Eligibility Requirements for Future Candidates
For over one hundred years, National Honor Society has been a leader among organizations and societies that encourage recognition for students exemplifying outstanding achievement in the areas of, scholarship, character, leadership, and service.
National Honor Society membership will give you an opportunity to gain experience in leadership roles and help with community service projects.
The standards used for selection are:
- Be a rising Junior or Senior.
- Scholarship 3.75 cumulative grade point average.
- Be enrolled in at least two honors courses per year.
- Community service:
- 50 community service hours documented in HAC (Juniors)
- 60 community service hours documented in HAC (Seniors)
- Completion of “NHS Selection form”
Simply filling out the form does not guarantee admission into National Honor Society. Other factors that will determine candidacy are leadership, character, school involvement in clubs, events, and activities, outside leadership, and club involvement (ie: Scouts, church, community groups, work, etc.). The Faculty Council will review all the resumes and make the final decisions regarding invitation to become a member or does not meet needed requirements. Juniors that did not meet requirements have the opportunity to become eligible at the start of Senior year. All confirmed candidates will be inducted into the club in a ceremony that will take place sometime in the fall. Confirmation letters will be sent out.
