The credits that students earn must be applicable toward high school graduation and acceptable toward an Associate or Baccalaureate degree.<\/p><p><strong>Who is eligible for Dual Enrollment?<\/strong><\/p><ol><li><span style=\"font-size: 16px\">Students who have an overall unweighted 3.0 grade point average.**<\/span><\/li><li>Students who have appropriate scores from an accepted assessment (ACT, CLT, PERT, PSAT, or SAT)<\/li><li>Permission from a parent or guardian and your high school counselor.<\/li><li>Students who understand the amount of work necessary to succeed in dual enrollment will be greater than in high school courses.<\/li><\/ol><p>**Student must maintain a 3.0 or higher unweighted GPA in high school to remain in Dual Enrollment.<\/p><p><strong>Things to consider before enrolling DE classes: <a href=\"https:\/\/www-tchs.stjohns.k12.fl.us\/guidance\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/23\/2023\/12\/Principles-of-Participation-Responsibilities-2023.pdf\">Principles of Participation &#8211; Responsibilities 2023<\/a><\/strong><\/p><ul><li>Students will start their college career and GPA. Grades earned in DE classes will impact the high school GPA and the college GPA. Both GPAs will be sent to colleges when they complete their application.<\/li><li>DE students are considered college students.\u00a0SJR is a separate school from TCHS.\u00a0 Their professors do not communicate with parents or school counselors regarding assignments and grades.\u00a0 The do not input grades in HAC or follow TCHS test retake policies.<\/li><li>All grades earned are a part of the student\u2019s permanent college transcript.\u00a0 If students struggle in a course and withdraw, they will earn a W on their transcript which can have negative implications for college admissions, financial aid eligibility, and place students on Bright Futures and other scholarship probation once they are in college.\u00a0 (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.floridastudentfinancialaidsg.org\/PDF\/BFHandbookChapter3.pdf\">Bright Futures College GPA Requirements<\/a>)<\/li><li>DE students must be responsible and independent learners.\u00a0 THE STUDENT needs to make sure that they meet ALL DEADLINES (application, test scores, course registration, book rental, etc) by checking for updates in the Dual Enrollment Schoology group, check their SJR email daily, and check their &#8220;concise student schedule&#8221; for accuracy.<\/li><li>The student will need transportation to and from the college campus.<\/li><\/ul><p><strong>Application Process:<\/strong><\/p><ol><li style=\"list-style-type: none\"><ol><li>Create an SJR State account and complete the online\u00a0 application through this link: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sjrstate.edu\/dual-checklist\">SJR Application<\/a>.<\/li><li>Within the application platform on the &#8220;supplemental items&#8221; page, send your guidance counselor a request for consent.<\/li><li>Make sure your counselor has and can upload your required test scores.<\/li><li>When with your parent, log in to your SJR State application account and complete your agreement and parent consent form online.<\/li><li>Check your SJR State application account to make sure all consent forms are complete.<\/li><li>Check the email you used to apply for acceptance details and next steps<\/li><\/ol><\/li><\/ol><p><b>Course Registration Process:\u00a0<\/b><\/p><ol><li>Students need to complete the <a href=\"https:\/\/www-tchs.stjohns.k12.fl.us\/guidance\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/23\/2025\/05\/Registration-Form-2025.pdf\">Registration Form<\/a> to register for their Dual Enrollment courses.\u00a0 Students should submit forms ASAP once they are available, as course availability is limited.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li><li>Students need to check their &#8220;Concise Student Schedule&#8221; to confirm enrollment in Dual Enrollment courses.\u00a0 (If, after 2 weeks, the course does not appear, notify your school counselor).<\/li><li>Once enrolled, students need to request their Dual Enrollment textbooks from media services and pick them up. Students who have a current 504 plan or IEP with TCHS will need to make an appointment with SJR Accommodations Department to get approval. Students who take DE classes with SJR will not have a 504 plan or IEP accommodations unless they make an appointment with SJR and get approval with SJR. The student will have to fill out a petition on SJR website to be reviewed.
