Coach Wilson is originally from Vero Beach, Fl where he graduated from Sebastian River High in 2009. As a 4-year letterman on the basketball team at SRHS, he finished his career with the most wins by one player in school history, holds the season and career assist record. Upon graduating high school, Coach Wilson went on to continue his athletic and academic career at the University of North Florida where he earned a bachelor\u2019s degree in Physical Education in 2014. On the court for UNF, he garnished Atlantic Sun Conference All- Academic honors and end his career 3rd<\/sup> all-time in assists for the Ospreys<\/em>. He began his teaching career at Sebastian River HS (2014-18) and at Providence (2018-2021), was the lead lower school Physical Education teacher.<\/p>\n Coach Wilson began coaching high school basketball as an assistant coach at Episcopal HS in 2013 and Sebastian River in 2014. The next year he became the head boys\u2019 basketball coach at his alma mater, where he led the Sharks <\/em>to back to back FHSAA District Championships and his 2017 team made a regional semi-final appearance, the programs first such appearance since 2010. In 2018 Coach Wilson moved back to Jacksonville and took over as the Associate Head Coach at Providence School of Jacksonville, where he coached with future Hall of Fame coach Jim Martin. While at Providence, Coach Wilson helped lead the Stallions<\/em> to 3 consecutive 20 plus win seasons and throughout his coaching career, he has aided in sending multiple athletes to play at the collegiate level from JUCO to D-1.<\/p>\n His experiences as a player and with different coaching philosophies have molded his coaching style that he will bring to Tocoi Creek HS. In the interview process, Coach Wilson emphasized the coaching of the \u201ctotal player\u201d, \u201cteam accountability\u201d, \u201ccommitment to success\u201d, and \u201chard-work\u201d as keys to developing a successful program. These keys do align with the vision for \u201cToro Athletics\u201d and Principal, Jay Willets said, \u201cMr. Wilson will bring an enthusiasm for successful teaching and coaching to our school that will be infectious to his students, athletes, parents and colleagues.\u201d Coach Wilson stated, \u201cthat he is looking forward to helping his student athletes develop as basketball players, but more importantly as young men as they prepare for life.\u201d<\/p>\n Coach Wilson has been very enthusiastic about taking on the challenges of building a new program, the opportunity to build a community full of new traditions, and experiences that will take all Tocoi Creek students to the next level both academically and athletically.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Tocoi
